Syesha Danielle is of Puerto Rican decent, born and raised in the South Bronx. Growing up in NYC, her love for art culture, cultivated a curiosity for many diverse forms of art.
Syesha acquired the nickname "Homeless Heart" while experiencing a period of homelessness. This is when she discovered her artistic gift as a Visual Artist. While on her journey, she initiated an art/exchange project with the public allowing her to provide essentials for herself and others who were being temporary housed in the New York City Department of Homeless Services.
Syesha estimates about 3,000 (Jackson Pollack) Abstract style paintings in shapes of hearts are floating around NYC, unnumbered and undocumented with personalized notes of gratitude. It is unknown how many paintings were exchanged,
Like most working citizens, Syesha would publicly paint as a means to earn a couple of dollars to sustained herself by way of selling art for any monetary contribution and implemented a bartering system as the city shelters where even more limited with the influx of arriving migrants from Venezula. With so many people in need and not enough resources to provide. These is are some factors which contributed to the declination of her health and the multiple transfers.
Within 15 month, Syesha was transferred to 7 shelters, her journey was not easy, in addition to the challenges she faces daily with symptoms of her comorbidities, some days seemed impossible, to find strength, faith and hope that a forever home would ever be in sight.
Syesha is recognized as an artist/activist by continuously educating the public of the challenges unhoused people face on a day-to-day basis. Syesha has been interviewed on multiple platforms to discuss her Visual Arts talent. Her artwork has been showcased in a few galleries around NYC as well as articles.
She is regarded as inspiring for her resilience and optimism. Standing up for her rights and those of others. Educating the public of the challenges unhoused people face daily and her extensive involvement in the community.
Syesha’s personal mission to cultivate creativity and community connections and be a role model for renewed hope in humanity by fostering diverse perspectives. She firmly believes that we should all aspire to uplift, encourage, educate and be of service to others in our communities and also to be kinder and more empathetic to each other in our society as a whole.
